Through personal observations and reliable information reported by collaborators trained by the Dolphin Project. between October 22, 1992 and February 22, 1996, on ten different occasions, 47 Orcinus orca were sighted between Ponta da Trindade (23°22'S 44°44'W) and Búzios (22°44'S 41°52'W), including the localities of Ponta da Juatinga. Ilha dos Meros, Ilha Rapada, Conceição de Jacarei, Aje da Marambaia. Barra da Tijuca and Cagarras Islands. Half of these sightings occurred in Baía da ha Grande, on the south coast. Of the total number of sightings. 60% occurred in spring, 30% in winter and 10% in summer. Group sizes ranged from 1 to 10, with an average of 4.7 individuals per group.
